Seniors Finish Conley Tournament with 9 to 4 Loss to Bombers

Buckley broke open a close game with 5 straight runs to down the Alliance Seniors 9 to 4 on Sunday. The Spartans ended the Conley tournament with 3 and 2 record. With the loss, the Peltz Co is 16 and 6 for the season. Alliance trailed just 4 to 3 after three innings but their bats went cold as the guests slowly pulled away. The matchup was played in Alliance. Starting pitcher Cody Galles hurled the first 4 frames and was relieved by Carver Nemnich and Kobe Strom. The seniors had 9 hits on the night and were led by Nason Thompson and Tony Escamilla who had 2 each.

Both squads struggled offensively in the first two innings with no runs put on the board. The Spartans got a hit by Thompson in the first and a knock by Espen Lanik in the second but no tallies.

Buckley busted thru in the third with 4 runs. The Bombers had four hits plus 2 Alliance errors to take a 4 to 0 advantage . In the bottom of the third , the Peltz Co countered with 3 scores of their own to get within one. Hits by Nemnich, Escamilla, and Jaxson Esparza made the game a 4 to 2 contest . Alliance got one more tally after a sac fly by Kegan Rodriguez. Heading to the fourth, the Peltz Co was down 4 to 3.

A triple and single by the visitors in the fourth gave Buckley a 5 to 3 margin. Thompson had a knock for the Spartans in the frame but failed to score. A Buckley bomb-home run- in the fifth put the Alliance deficit at 6 to 3. In the bottom of the fifth, Rodriguez singled and was stranded on the bases. A three spot in the top of the sixth by the guests put the matchup away. The Bombers used a couple of walks and singles to take a commanding 9 to 3 lead. Alliance went scoreless in their at bat as the Peltz Co trailed by 6 going into the final inning.

After holding Buckley without a run in the top of the seventh, the Seniors had one more chance for a comeback. The Spartans got hits from Escamilla and Mikey Johnson to get run #4 but a rally was quickly put down by the Bombers. Final. Buckley 9. Alliance 4
