A No Kings Protest in Disguise

Alliance

On Saturday morning, I read an item from Nebraska News Network listing sites of No Kings protests across our state. I noted that Alliance was included on that list.

I scratched my head. None of the promotional materials distributed by the organizers of the “Rally for America,” including an article in the Times-Herald, mentioned any connection to the nation-wide collection of avowedly anti-Trump administration protests.

My curiosity now piqued, I checked the official No Kings website. Sure enough, there was Alliance on the protest site map, along with Scottsbluff and Chadron to round out Panhandle participation.

This information, along with the content of the signs I observed in the park, strongly suggest that the “Rally for America” was actually a No Kings protest in disguise. Its organizers appear to have made a decided effort to keep the real lineage of the Alliance rally under wraps.

The obvious question is why the deception? The organizers must have had their reasons. Perhaps they could share their thinking with the wider community.
