Alliance hosted Sidney on Monday in a pair of prep games. The Spartans won the opener 5 to 3 to improve to 11-16-1 on the year. Logan Freiberger had 2 of the Peltz Co’s 4 hits. On the mound, Alliance got 2 innings from Freiberger who was the starter. Cisco Cody ended the game with 3 frames in relief.
Sidney score first with a run in the top of the opener. The guests used a couple of hits to go up 1 to 0. Alliance had their best inning offensively in the home half with 3 tallies. Hits by Freiberger and Cody plus 2 passed balls gave the Spartans a 3 to 1 advantage. Two k’s by Freiberger in the second helped keep the visitors off the board. The Preps added to their lead in the home half with 2 scores. A knock by Silas Linney-Stone and sac fly by Freiberger put the game at 4 to 1. The Peltz Co then went ahead by 4 with a passed ball that made it a 5 to 1 game.
Inning 3 had Sidney scoring once while Alliance went scoreless. The guests again threatened in the fourth. Sidney scored again but a Spartan double play stopped the spree. In the bottom of the inning, the Peltz Co got a hit by Freiberger but no runs. Sidney would load the bases in their final but come away empty. Final. Alliance 5 Sidney 3
