A big opening frame by Alliance powered the Prep club past Sidney 11 to 6 on Monday. The Spartans put 6 tallies in the scoring column in the bottom of the first frame and never looked back. With the victory, the Preps now have a 12-16-1 record on the season. The Peltz Co got 3.2 innings from starting pitcher Quinn Ferguson who allowed just one hit in getting the W. At the plate, Alliance finished with 6 knocks and were led by Esai Trejo who had 2. Alliance also captured the opener, downing the guests 5 to 3. Also pitching was Trejo who finished the match up.
Ferguson sat down Sidney in order in the first. In the home half, Alliance seized the momentum. The Spartans put 6 on the board to take a big lead. Hits by Esai Trejo, Sonny Hernandez, and Cooper Galles helped the Peltz Co go up 6 to 0. In the second, Sidney again failed to score while Alliance added to their advantage with 2 more scores. An RBI double by Trejo made it a 7 to 0 ball game. An error by the visitors gave the Preps their 8th run.
A double play by the Peltz Co in the top of the third helped the Spartans maintain control. Alliance would get bottom of the third hits by Roy Torres and Ryan Walker to surge ahead 11 to 0. In Sidney’s final attempt, the guests used several walks, a pair of Alliance errors, and a hit to score 6 times but wasn’t enough. Final Prep team 11. Sidney 6
