Alliance Public Library Spine Poetry Voting Contest
The staff at the Alliance Public Library is excited to announce a collection of spine poetry created by our staff to kick off this summer’s adult reading program. Each staff member has arranged a descriptive poem using titles from books in the library. The public is invited to vote on the entries in the “Under the Alliance Sky Staff Poetry Spine Contest” through July 18th. See how close you can get to correctly matching all the employees with their poems. The person who guesses correctly will win a Hug In A Mug $75 gift certificate.
We look forward to a fun summer reading program for adults. Entry forms are available at the front desk. All voting must be done in person. One vote please per person.
Information on this and other programming is available on the APL website, Facebook and Instagram. We are located at 1750 Sweetwater Avenue and reached by phone at 308-762-1387 Monday -Thursday 8AM-6PM; Friday 8AM-5PM and Saturday 10AM-2PM.
Big Blue Bay Pool Heater Update
Due to the recent failure of the pool heater, water temperatures at Big Blue Bay will be slightly cooler than usual over the next few days.
City staff had previously identified issues with the heater and, several weeks ago, requested and received City Council approval to order a replacement. The new heater has arrived on-site. Installation will take place as soon as a few additional parts are delivered.
Under normal conditions, the pool water temperature is maintained between 78–80°F. For the coming week, temperatures are expected to range from approximately 75°F in the early morning to around 78°F by late afternoon. These fluctuations will vary slightly based on overnight lows and daily highs.
Based on current weather forecasts, we do not anticipate a significant impact on visitors’ swimming experience.
