Michael Lee Shetler 81 of North Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on May 20, 2025.
Born in Gladewater, Texas, on June 16, 1944, Mike was the son of Vernon J Shetler and Ila M. Pearce. He graduated from William Byrd High School in Venton, Virginia in 1962 and went on to earn his degree from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1967.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 as a chaplain’s assistant at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. His deep faith guided both his service and his life.
He dedicated three decades to teaching music in the North Charleston ,South Carolina Public School System (1970-2000) A talented and faithful musician, Mike served as a church organist for several congregations in the North Charleston area.
After retirement, he continued to embrace life fully. He loved to travel and became devoted to lap swimming for exercise.
He is survived by his siblings: Janice S Yewell (Morgan): Gary B Shetler (Kay): Curtis B Shetler (Donna): and Timothy J Shetler (Joyce).
He will be laid to rest alongside his parents in Hemingford, Nebraska, at a graveside service on August 9 at 10:30 a.m.
