Senior night for the Scottsbluff girl’s basketball squad was a good one. The Bearcats honor their senior leaders and posted a 70 to 31 victory over Alliance on Friday. With the loss, the Dogs fall to 5 and 13 for the season. Scottsbluff led from the start and cruised to the win. Alliance was behind by 20 at halftime and scored just 2 points in the third as the Cats dominated the play. Senior Addison Weber and freshman Reese Armstrong paced the Alliance offense with 9 points each. Scottsbluff also got the W in the junior varsity contest.
Both clubs found the scorebook early in the affair. The game was knotted at 7 before the Cats pulled away. Alliance got on the board with a bucket and a three by Armstrong. Two free throws by Bulldog Krejci tied the contest at 7 all. Momentum then went to the hosts. The Bluffs scored 11 to a row to go up 18 to 7 before a three by Weber. Scottsbluff finished the quarter with 6 straight and led 24 to 10 after one period of play.
SB controlled action again the second, scoring 16 while AHS tallied 10. A 6 to 2 run by the Dogs early closed the gap. Free throws by Bulldog Brooke Bailey and hoops by Weber and Armstrong ensued as AHS got within 10. Back came the Bluffs. The hosts put 10 straight in the books to surge ahead 38 to 18 with 2 minutes left in the half. Two more charity strips shots by Bailey were next and the half came to a close with the Lady Bearcats in charge 40 to 20.
Quarter three went the way of the Bearcats. Scottsbluff scored 22 and held AHS to just 2. Twenty in a row by SHS made the board read Scottsbluff 60 Alliance 20 with less than a minute showing. Armstrong stopped the spurt with 2 free throws and the quarter ended with another hoop by the hosts and the Dogs down 62 to 22.
Alliance scored 9 in final period. Two hoops by Weber and 2 free throws by Paz Cody began the scoring. Alliance in the final stages got a free throw by Ande Girard and a bucket by Ryley Norris.
