Five Dogs are Omaha Bound!

Some of the state’s best wrestlers converge on Crete High School on Saturday for the Class B district one tournament. Taking home first for the team trophy was Omaha Skutt who tallied 260 points while ending second was Gering who ended with 160. Gretna East was third at 121. With 94 points, the Alliance Bulldogs were sixth.

12 schools competed. They were: Omaha Skutt, Gering, Gretna East, Lincoln Standing Bear, Ralston, Alliance, Norris, Mount Michael, Lincoln Lutheran, Crete, Auburn, and Elkhorn.

For the Bulldogs, eleven took to the mat with hopes of a top four finish and a ticket to the state meet in Omaha. Sophomore Coy Childers was a district champ at 132. Coy went 2 and 0 on the day and will try next week to repeat as a state champion. Brother Jett Childers will again be at the state meet as he ended third at 126. Jett went 3 and 1 for the afternoon. Alliance also got a third place performance from Lucas Weber at 215. Weber battled back from an early loss to win 4 in a row in getting the bronze.

Two Dogs ended fourth and will participate at state. At 120, Wyatt Stabnow will again be in Omaha. Stabnow ended his effort by going 2 and 2 which was good for fourth. Also taking fourth at 138 was Trini Trejo who finished with a 2 and 2 mark for the day.
