Mary Jo Sanchez Torres passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was 57 years of age.
She was born June 22, 1969 in Alliance, the oldest of 3 daughters born to John and Marjorie Sanchez.
Mary married Phillip Torres in May, 2012 and a few years later renewed their vows on June 21, 2021 in Alliance. Together they had a daughter, Lacie and she joined Mary’s stepchildren, Whitney Torres and Taylor Torres.
Mary graduated from Alliance High School in 1987. She worked for several companies in Alliance including, Alco, Dairy Queen, Dollar General and Westco. Her last job was with Bomgaar’s until she was unable to work because of her health.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip, her daughter, Lacie, her stepdaughter, Whitney Torres and stepson, Taylor Torres, her parents, John and Marjorie Sanchez, her sisters, Carrie Sanchez and Jessica Sanchez, her nephews, Atreus Walker and Armando Sanchez DuBray and her niece Ayla Walker. She is also survived by Phillip’s family members, Nick Torres, Sr of Sterling, CO, Donna and Fernando Caballero of Evans, CO, Nick and Heather Torres, Jr. of Sterling, CO, and numerous, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding her death were her grandparents, Jonas Running Bear, Lucy Red Feather, Esteban (Steve) Sanchez, Sr, Marcaria Mendez Mart, her infant brother, Jonas John Sanchez, her uncles and aunts, Alexander Sanchez, Steve Sanchez, Jr., Rita Running Bear, DelaVina Red Feather, Emery Red Feather and Patrick Red Feather, her mother-in-law, Angel Torres and brother-in-law, Michael Torres
Wake services will be Friday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Matt Koperski officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
