Game 2 of a doubleheader between the Peltz Co Senior group and the Spartan Juniors was a three inning ball game played Wednesday. An eight run second frame highlighted by a homer by Senior Mike Johnson helped the Seniors defeat the Junior squad 12 to 0. Earlier in the night, the Spartans downed the Junior team 10 to 0 to begin the action. Two hits each by Seniors Espen Lanik, Tony Escamilla, Braeden Clarke, and Nason Thompson led the offense. Pitching for the Spartans were Clarke and EJ Garcia. The Juniors had Casyn Rodriguez and Israel Garcia on the mound.
A double play spun by the Seniors in the top of the first kept the Juniors off the board. In the bottom of the frame, the Peltz Co put three in the scorebook. Kegan Rodriguez walked to start the scoring and moved into scoring position after a hit by Escamilla. A couple of errors by Juniors ensued as the Seniors went up by 1. Thompson ended the scoring later in the frame with a 2 run double.
After one inning of play, the Seniors were ahead 3 to 0.
Two strikeouts by Clarke silence the bats for the Juniors in the top of the second. Meanwhile, the Senior bats came alive in the home half with 8 tallies. A leadoff homer by Johnson began the big inning. It was followed by hits by Lanik, Clarke, and Thompson that made it a 7 to 0 affair. A wild pitch was next that put the Junior deficit at 9. Scoring came to a close with a 2 RBI hit by Rodriguez. Heading to the third, the Peltz Co Seniors enjoyed an 11 to 0 advantage.
Inning #3 was a scoreless one for the Juniors while the game ended with one Senior score in the home half. Hits by Lanik, Escamilla, and Clarke put the lid on the 12 to 0 victory.
