Game two of a doubleheader between the Peltz Co Seniors and the Spartan Junior club was a low scoring affair. Only 7 hits were allowed by the two squads. In the end, it was the Seniors making just enough plays to down the Juniors 5 to 1 in action played Tuesday. Senior pitchers – Carver Nemnich, Braeden Clarke and Kobe Strom- allowed just 2 hits on the night. Hurling for the Juniors were Israel Garcia and Casyn Rodriguez who gave up just 5 knocks for the game.
The Seniors scored twice in their final at bat to seal the deal.
Lots of zeros were in the book in the opening three innings. A hit by Carson Stull in the second and one by Teagan O’Gorman gave the Peltz Co Juniors hope in frames 2 and 3 but both runners were stranded. After a scoreless top of the fourth by the Juniors, the bats came alive for the Seniors in the bottom of the inning. Hits by Jaxson Esparza, Mike Johnson, and Tony Escamilla made it a 1 to 0 affair. A passed ball ended the scoring and the ball game went to the fifth with the Spartan Seniors up 2 to 0.
In the top of frame #5, the Juniors went down in order. The Peltz Co Seniors added to their lead after doubles by Nemnich and Nason Thompson. Down 3, the Juniors again went scoreless in the top of the sixth. Two more Senior runs in the home half put the Junior deficit at 5. Three walks, an error, and a passed ball made it a 5 to 0 contest. The Juniors pushed one across in their last at bat but it wasn’t enough.
