Big scoring innings in the first and second frames lifted the Westco Heavy Hitters past the Peltz Co Sox 19 to 4 in baseball action Sunday in Scottsbluff. Alliance fell behind 8 to 3 after the first and were never able to recover. Pitching for the Blue Sox were Levi Escamilla and Eugenio Lopez. Alliance closed with 6 hits.
Alliance stormed out to a nice lead after the top of the first with 3 tallies. Von Krejci walked to start the scoring and later scored on an RBI groundout by Bodee Barber. The Blue Sox then plated 2 more after hits by Marshall Moseman, Canton Devlin, and Zeke Dean. Down 3, Westco came back with 8 tallies to take the lead. The Hitters used 6 knocks along with a couple of Alliance errors, a steal of home, and a passed ball to take an 8 to 3 lead.
A double by Cameron Walker in the top of the second gave the Peltz Co a chance but he was left on the bags. Westco’s bats continued to be strong in bottom of the inning. Using four hits and a few mistakes by the Sox, the hosts scored 6 times in the frame. Alliance trailed 14 to 3 after 2 innings of action.
Inning three had the Sox score once thanks to a Krejci walk and a hit by Barber. Five more runs by the Bluffs in the home half increased their margin. Behind 19 to 4, the Peltz Co got a hit by Lopez in their last attempt but no runs. Final Westco 19 Blue Sox 4
