St. Agnes was back in action again on Saturday, taking part in the Scottsbluff Invite. Seven schools competed. The Crusaders, who had a strong showing Friday in Morrill, had another great day. 8th grader Alexis Shelmadine continued her super season with a 3 gold performance. Shelmadine was first in the pole vault, 200 hurdles, and the 100. Her time of 29.7 in the 200 hurdles was a new school record. Seventh grader Penn Vergil also ended the day with three firsts, winning gold in the 800, long jump, and triple jump. The Academy also got first place efforts from Quinn Robertson who won both the 100 hurdles and 200 hurdles and Aubrey Dudden who was first in the high jump. On the boy’s side, the Crusaders had three bronze medal efforts. Tee Johnson was third in the pole vault. Also third was Tatum Devlin in the 800 and Declan Kirchner in the 400.
Scottsbluff was first in both boy’s team races. The Cats scored 200.5 points in winning the 8th grade team race with Gering second with 98. St. Agnes was seventh with 9.5 points. In seventh grade, the Bluffs boys scored 164 points while ending second was Mitchell who tallied 118. The Crusader scored 22 points which was good for sixth.
With 58 points, the Crusader seventh grade girl’s squad was fourth. Gering was the winner with 99 points with Chadron second with 92. The Bluffs were first in the girl’s 8th grade race with 150.25. Chadron took second with 137. The Academy was fifth with 47 tallies.
