A pair of Alliance baseball squads-the Peltz Co Juniors and the Aviators-met Monday in a ball game played in Alliance. Seven runs in the fourth inning powered the Spartans past the Aviators 11 to 3. Pitching for the Juniors was Dixon Bair and Logan Freiberger. The Aviators had Jeremiah Valdez, Zeek Galvan, and Liam Pena on the hill. Both teams ended with seven hits each. Up by just 2 heading to the bottom of the fourth, the Spartans put the contest away with a strong last at bat.
Solid starting pitching by Bair helped the Juniors gain the early lead. Bair had a scoreless top of the first while the Peltz Co pushed one across in the home half of the first. Bair helped his cause with a walk and a run scored on a wild pitch. The Aviators tied the game in the top of inning #2. Pena had a double and later scored on an error. Also getting hits in the second were Chief Cody and Ashton Weingart. The Peltz Co failed to score in the home half and the contest went to the third knotted at 1.
Momentum stayed with the Aviators in the third with another tally. Knocks by Bo McCune and Brookes Sylvester put the Junior deficit at 2 to 1. The Spartans countered with a three spot in the bottom of the frame. Scoring began with Navi Singh reaching after being hit by the pitch. Singles ensued by Cooper Gallas and Brandon Myers that loaed the bases for Bair. His sac fly tied the game at 2. A wild pitch followed as the Spartans surged ahead by 1. The rally ended with a triple by Jace Jensen and an RBI hit by Quinn Ferguson. After three innings of play, the Spartans were up 4 to 2.
In the fourth, the Aviators got a hit from Brandon Bishop but no runs. The battle was put away in the bottom of the inning with the Peltz Co plating 7 runs. A two run double by Bair made it 6 to 2 and a wild pitch put the Aviators deficit at 5. The final tallies came after an error, and RBI groundout by AJ Garcia, and a hit by Freiberger. Heading to the fifth, the Juniors enjoyed an 11 to 2 lead.
A triple by Aviator Vincent Burger was how the fifth started. Burger would score the final tally thanks to an RBI groundout by Galvan. Final Spartans 11 Aviators 3
