Hunter, Haas, and Benda Have One More Track Meet in Omaha

Class C area teams met in Grant on Thursday. Perkins County High School hosted the District 9 track meet with 10 teams participating. In the boy’s division, it was the Longhorns from Chase County bringing home the team trophy with 140 points. North Platte St. Patrick’s was second with 91.5 points while taking third was Hershey with 79. In fifth place, were the Hemingford boys who tallied 41 points. The Bobcats will be sending three athletes to Omaha for the state meet. Taking second in both the mile and two mile events was Junior Austin Benda. His mile time of 4:47 and his two mile mark of 10:19 qualified him for state. Sprinter Jayce Haas is also heading to state in both the 100 and 200. Haas placed fourth in each event. Pole vaulter Eli Hunter finishes the list of state bound performers. Hunter’s mark of 12’8 sends him to Omaha.
