Everything worked for the Alliance Juniors on Friday in their contest versus McCook. Using 10 hits and solid pitching, the Peltz Co downed First Central Bank 10 to 0. Starter Kyler Hamel went four innings and gave up just 1 hit while reliever Carson Stull struck out 2 in his one inning on the hill. At the plate, Dixon Bair had 3 hits and Miguel Galvan added two.
A double play turned by the Spartans in the top of the first got Alliance off to a good start. In the home half, the Juniors scored 3 times. An rbi groundout by Teagen O’Gorman made it 1 to 0. After a single by Tanner Salcido, Galvan reached on an error. Both runners then scored on a double by Fletcher Moseman. After one inning of action, the Spartans were up 3 to 0.
Two Hamel strikeouts in the second helped the Juniors maintain their advantage. Despite hits from Bair and Jackson Devlin, the Peltz Co failed to score in the bottom of the second. McCook threatened in the third with a single and a pair of walks but all runners were stranded. Alliance was sharp in the home half, scoring 4 times. Galvan began the frame with a hit and advanced after Jackson Shelmadine was hit by a pitch. Bair then made it 5 to 0 with a 2 run single. An rbi hit by Israel Garcia ensued that gave the Juniors a 6 run cushion. The inning ended with a steal of home by Devlin and the Spartans ahead 7 to 0.
In the fourth, Hamel recorded two more Ks as the Spartans kept their shutout in tact. Three more Spartan tallies in the bottom put the contest away. Alliance would get hits from Galvan, Shelmadine, and Bair to go up 10 to 0 heading to the fifth. Stull ended the contest with a pair of strikeouts as the Peltz Co got the 10 to 0 victory.
