Cheyenne Outlasts Alliance 9 to 7

Win #12 came up short for the Peltz Co Seniors on Saturday. Cheyenne tallied a pair of runs in their last two at bats to down the Spartans 9 to 7. The contest was tied at 7 going to the bottom of the fifth before Post 6 scored once. Cheyenne then added one more in the home half of the sixth in posting the win. Alliance fell to 11 and 5 for the season. At the dish, the Seniors finished with 8 hits with Tony Escamilla leading the offense with 2. Espen Lanik tossed all six frames and had 2 strikeouts.

Two early runs by the Spartans gave the Peltz Co a brief lead. Hits by Lanik, Jaxson Esparza, and Carver Nemnich made it a 2 to 0 ball game. The Sixers responded with 3 in the bottom of the inning. Down 1, the Seniors failed to score in the top of the second while Cheyenne extended their advantage by scoring 4. Alliance came back with 2 tallies in the top of inning three. A walk by Creighton Fritzler started the scoring. It was followed by a double by Kobe Strom. Both players then crossed home after 2 wild pitches. Post 6 went scoreless in the home half and the affair went to the fourth with the Seniors down 3.

Inning fourth was a strong one for the Peltz Co. Alliance knotted the contest while Lanik kept the hosts off the board. In the top of the fourth, Teagan O’Gorman began things with a hit and advanced after a single by Escamilla. Next up was Lanik who walked to load the bags. An RBI hit by Creighton Fritzler made it 7 to 5. The scoring closed with wild pitch and an RBI walk by Esparza. Heading to the fifth, the matchup was tied at 7.

Cheyenne ended the game by holding the Peltz Co scoreless while scoring twice. The Sixers got one tally in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the sixth. Escamilla had a hit for Seniors but didn’t score. Alliance went down 1-2-3 in their last attempt. Final Post six 9. Spartans 7
