A pair of grand slam homers helped the GoCo Grizz past the Alliance Spuds 12 to 1 in action on Sunday. GoCo hit one in the first inning then added another slam in the third in getting the W. Alliance also had a homer as Leo Hager blasted one in the bottom of the second. It was the Spud’s lone knock. Three Alliance players took the hill. They were starter Ridge Toedtli and relievers Hager and Luke Clarke who had three strikeouts.
GoCo hit first and had success with 5 scores, four coming in on their first slam. Alliance went scoreless in the bottom of the frame. The Spuds were sharp in the second. The Grizz failed to score while the home run by Hager closed the Alliance deficit to 4. Heading to inning #3, the Spuds were down 5 to 1.
Another slam in the third gave GoCo a nice cushion. The Grizz scored 2 more times thanks to a couple of walks and an error by the Spuds. Alliance went down in their last attempt.
