Peltz Co Seniors Stop Platte Valley Eight to Three

On Wednesday, the Alliance Seniors ventured to Gering for a matchup against Platte Valley. A big night at the plate by Spartan Braeden Clarke paced the Seniors to an 8 to 3 win.

Clarke had three of Alliance’s nine knocks. The Peltz Co scored 5 runs in their last 3 attempts in picking up their 11th W on the season. Alliance got a solid outing from starter Tony Escamilla and reliever Lexton Salcido in defeating the hosts. The two hurlers combined to strike out seven Gering batters.

Platte Valley Companies controlled play early, holding the Seniors scoreless in the first while plating a run. Alliance received a first frame knock by Creighton Fritzler but no scores. Both squads were shut down in the second and the contest went to the third with Gering leading 1 to 0.

Third inning action had the Peltz Co knotting the game. Escamilla walked and later scored on an RBI double by Kobe Strom. PVC went down quietly in the home half. Alliance took the lead in the fourth with 2 tallies. Hits by Clarke and Jaxon Poss made it 2 to 1. The scoring concluded with an error by the hosts that put the Gering deficit at 3 to 1. An Alliance twin killing in the bottom of the fourth helped the Peltz Co maintain their 2 run lead.

Alliance added to their advantage in the top of the fifth with one run. Clarke drove in Jaxson Esparza who singled as the Spartans went ahead 4 to 1. Gering went down 1-2-3 in their fifth inning attempt. The Seniors continued the pressure with 2 more scores in the sixth. RBIs by Escamilla and Espen Lanik made it a 6 to 1 affair. Bats by Platte Valley were again silenced in the bottom of inning #6. In the Spartan’s final at bat, the Peltz Co pushed 2 across. An RBI double by Clarke along with a sacrifice fly by Teagan O’Gorman had the board read Alliance 8 Gering 1. The Platte Valley Companies scored twice in the bottom of the finale but it wasn’t enough. Alliance got the victory
