Games in Fort Morgan were next on the schedule for the Peltz Co Junior club. Alliance started Friday with a contest versus Garretsons. The Spartans battled to the end but dropped a 3 to 2 decision. Two runs in the bottom of the fifth by the Dragons proved to be the difference. Tanner Salcido led the Juniors with 2 hits. On the mound for the Spartans was starter Fletcher Moseman and relief hurler Miguel Galvan. Alliance was up 2 to 1 going into the home half of the fifth before surrendering 2 tallies.
Salcido had one of his knocks in the opener but was stranded. In the bottom of the first, Salcido from his catcher’s position threw a base runner keeping the Spartans in front. Alliance failed to score in the top of the second while the Peltz Co turn a double play in the home frame to keep the lead.
Garretsons took the lead in the bottom of inning three. Using a walk and a pair of hits, the squad from South Dakota surged ahead 1 to 0. Alliance countered with a 2 spot in the fourth. Another knock by Salcido was followed by a walk by Carson Stull. Salcido would then steal home to tie the game at 1. The rally ended with an RBI double by Jayden Garcia. In the home half, Moseman put down SD in order. In the fifth, Garretsons took the lead for good with a 2 run hit. No runs were recorded in the sixth. Alliance had one last opportunity in the seventh.
