Mustangs Hold Off Juniors

Friday‘s late game of the Torrington tournament had Alliance facing Lovell. Using a strong sixth inning, it was the Mustangs besting the Peltz Co 8 to 3. Lovell led only 4 to 3 going into the sixth but scored 4 times in recording the win. Alliance closed with seven hits with Miguel Galvan leading the way with 2. Starter Casyn Rodriguez went 4 frames and was relieved by Israel Garcia and Jayden Garcia.

Inning one was quiet with both sides not scoring. The Spartans went also in order in frame 2. Lovell grabbed the advantage in the bottom of the second. The Mustangs scored once to take the lead. No runs were recorded in the third with Rodriguez posting 2 strikeouts. Alliance tied the contest in the fourth . Galvan singled and scored on an RBI groundout by Rodriguez. The Mustangs also scored in the frame and the affair went to the fifth with the Peltz Co down 2 to 1.

Lovell increased its margin in the fifth. First, the Spartans failed to score while the Mustangs pushed 2 across. Alliance had its best inning offensively in the sixth, scoring twice. Knocks by Galvan, Jace Jensen, Logan Freiberger, and Jackson Devlin sliced the Junior’s deficit to 1. Back came the Mustangs in the home half. Lovell plated 4 scores, keyed by a 3 run double. The Spartans had a chance in the seventh after hits by Jackson Shelmadine and Israel Garcia. Both runners were stranded and the Mustangs took the win 8 to 3.
