A two run homer in the bottom of the seventh carried Post 22 past the Alliance Seniors 5 to 4 in action on Saturday. Rapid City trailed by 1 going into their final at bat before the walk off home run. Espen Lanik led the Spartans with 2 of their 7 hits. Tossing for the Peltz Co was starter Kegan Rodriguez and reliever Lexton Salcido.
Lanik opened the game with a hit but didn’t score. The Hard hats plated one in the bottom of the frame to take the early lead. Both squads failed to score in the second with Rodriguez getting a strikeout. Alliance grabbed the advantage in the third. The Peltz Co received a hit from Jaxon Poss, an RBI triple from Lanik, and a run scoring single from Tony Escamilla to take a one run margin. Rapid failed to score in the home half and the contest went to the fourth with the Spartans enjoying a 2 to 1 lead.
Knocks off the bat Spartans Carver Nemnich and Braeden Clarke gave the Seniors a shot in the top of the fourth. Unfortunately, the Peltz Co couldn’t capitalize on the hits. Post 22 went down in order in the bottom of the frame. Inning #5 was a scoreless one for both clubs. The Peltz Co did turn a double play to keep their lead in tack. Alliance bats were again silenced in the sixth while Rapid scored twice to take the lead. The Spartans rallied in their last at bat with 2 runs. Clarke was hit by a pitch and moved into scoring position after a knock by Rodriguez. An error then by Rapid tied the battle at 3. Escamilla’s sac bunt then gave the Peltz Co a one run lead. The game then ended in the home half with a Hard Hat walk off 2 run homer. Final. Rapid 5. Alliance 4
