Action in Sidney on Sunday was a contest between the Alliance Prep squad and Buckley. Alliance had a late rally but it wasn’t enough as the Bombers got the W 7 to 3. With the loss, the Spartans now see their record on the season fall to 12 and 7. The Peltz Co was down 7 to 0 entering their final at bat but plated three to make things interesting. Jace Jensen started on the mound for the Preps and was relieved by Quinn Ferguson who tallied three strikeouts. Alliance had 5 hits for the game with Jensen leading the offense with 2.
Buckley grabbed the early lead in the opening frame. Alliance failed to score while the Bombers plated one. The Spartans did flip a double play to limit the damage. In the second, again the Preps were turned away. Jensen recorded a strikeout in Buckley’s second inning attempt. Inning #3 had the Preps go down 1-2-3 while the Bombers extended their margin with three scores. Down 4 in the top of the fourth, the Peltz Co got hits by Jensen and Esai Trejo. Both runners were left on the sacks. Buckley added to their advantage in their at bat in the fourth with 3 more scores.
In the top of the fifth, the Spartans got on the board with three tallies. Hits by Sonny Hernandez and AJ Garcia along with Cooper Gallas reaching after being hit by a pitch brought up Jensen whose single made it 7 to 1. Alliance then got rbi bases loaded walks by Ferguson and Silas Lilley-Stone to close within 4. Buckley then recorded the last out and won the battle 7 to 3.
