Complete Game by Garcia Leads Spartans Past Buckley

Semi final action on Sunday of the Sidney tournament had a matchup between Alliance and Buckley. A six inning masterpiece by Spartan pitcher Israel Garcia paced the Juniors past the Bombers 17 to 3. Garcia went all 6 frames, allowed only 3 hits, and had 6 strikeouts. With the win, the Peltz Co advanced to the championship contest later in the day. Two Spartans-Teagen O’Gorman and Jace Jensen- led the offense with three hits each. Alliance finished the affair with 17 hits. Down early, the Peltz Co scored 5 in the third and 9 more in the sixth in posting the victory.

An early double by Junior Miguel Galvan gave the Peltz Co a chance in the top of the first. He was left on the bases. In the home half, the Bombers went to work. Buckley plated three runs to take the lead. Inning 2 was a scoreless one for both teams. Alliance came alive in the top of the third with 5 tallies. Fletcher Moseman started things with a hit and moved into scoring position after a walk to Jackson Devlin. A hit by Garcia was then misplayed as the Spartans got on the board. Next up was O’Gorman whose RBI double made it 3 to 2. A sac fly by Galvan then tied the contest. The scoring ended with 2 more runs thanks to 2 wild pitches. Garcia had one k and a scoreless home half. With three innings in the book, Alliance was up 5 to 3.

Alliance scored one in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Moseman. The Peltz co turned a double play in the bottom of the 4th to maintain their advantage. In the fifth, the Juniors put two more on the board. Knocks by O’Gorman, Jensen, Casyn Rodriguez , and Logan Freiberger made it 8 to 3. Buckley failed to score in their fifth inning at bat. Alliance went crazy at the plate in their last attempt, scoring 9. Hits by Garcia, O’Gorman, Galvan, Jensen, Kyler Hamel, Rodriguez, Carson Stull, and Moseman results in the Peltz Co taking a 17 to 3 lead. Alliance ended the game with a double play and the 14 run victory.
