Strong hitting and pitching by Spartan Nason Thompson was on display in Bridgeport on Wednesday. Alliance defeated the hosts 16 to 1. The Peltz Co got three solid innings on the mound from Thompson along with 2 hits at the plate. Also tossing were Kobe Strom and Tony Escamilla. A nine run third frame helped the Seniors get the victory.
First inning knocks by Alliance’s Jaxon Poss and Escamilla led to the Spartan’s first tally. Thompson would strike all three Bombers in the last of the first. Both teams got into the scoring column in frame #2. Mike Johnson walked and scored on an RBI swing by EJ Garcia. A Bridgeport error then plated Garcia. Post 29 used a miscue by the Peltz Co and hit to score once in the home half. With 2 frames in the book, the Spartans were up 3 to 1.
Alliance tallied 9 in the top of the third. Escamilla walk and crossed home after a double by Thompson. Two errors by BP ensued as the Seniors increased their advantage. RBI knocks by Lexton Salcido and Johnson followed, making the score 8 to 1. A balk by the Bombers resulted in run # 9 and a Poss sac fly put the Bomber’s deficit at 9. The scoring closed with a 2 run hit by Thompson. Post 29 failed to score in the bottom of the third thanks to Johnson from his catching position throwing a BP runner out trying to steal. Alliance led 12 to 1 with action going to the fourth.
Frame four had the Peltz Co expanding its margin with 4 scores.
Hits off the bats of Salcido, Johnson, and Carver Nemnich had the Spartans going up by 15. The Bombers went down quietly in their last attempt.
