Action on Thursday was a matchup between North Platte and the Spartan’s Seniors. Alliance fell behind early and dropped a 13 to 4 decision. Post 163 scored 4 times in the first in getting the win over the Peltz Co. Jaxon Poss led the Seniors with 2 of their 5 hits. Pitching for the Spartans was starter Braeden Clarke along with relievers Carver Nemnich and EJ Garcia. The contest was played in Alliance as part of the annual Clair Conley tournament.
A couple of early knocks by NP along 2 miscues by the Seniors helped the guests score 4 in the top of the first. Alliance went in order in the home half. The Peltz Co would turn a double play in the top of the second to stay close. In the last of the inning, the Seniors failed to score. Frame three was won by the Seniors. Clarke allowed no runs in the top while the Spartans plated 2 in the bottom of the inning. Hits by Poss, Espen Lanik, and Kobe Strom resulted in a pair of tallies. After three frames of action, Alliance trailed 4 to 2.
Bats for both clubs came to life in the fourth. GPH scored 3 to go up by 5. Alliance countered with 2 in the bottom of the frame. Poss singled again while the Peltz Co got an rbi hit by Kegan Rodriguez. An error by the visitors then made it a 7 to 4 contest. Two misplays by the Seniors in the top of the fifth helped North Platte increase their advantage to 4. The Spartans went scoreless in the at bat in the bottom of the inning. Any hopes of an Alliance comeback were ruined in the sixth as the guests scored 5 more tallies. The Peltz Co went down quietly in their last attempt.
