Sox Calm Storm 9 to 1

Day two of the Sidney baseball tournament had the Alliance Blue Sox facing off against the Panhandle Storm. Strong starting pitching by Sox’s Zeke Dean lead Alliance past PH 9 to 1. Dean went three solid frames, striking out 6 while walking 0. Eugenio Lopez tossed the final 2 and had 3 Ks. The Peltz Co closed the contest with 5 hits.

Alliance went to the plate first and found success. The Sox scored twice. Canton Devlin had a single to start the rally. Next up was Bodee Barber who was hit by a pitch. Dean then loaded the bases with a walk. A passed ball along with a steal of home then gave the Sox a 2 run advantage. In the home half, Dean held the Storm scoreless. Frame two had the Sox increase their lead with one more tally. Parks Sylvester was hit by a pitch and later scored on a wild pitch. Two more Dean strikeouts in the bottom of the inning kept the Alliance margin at 3 to 0. Both teams failed to score in the third with the Peltz Co getting a hit from Marshall Moseman in the top of the frame. Heading to the fourth, Alliance was up 3.

Three Alliance knocks in the top of the fourth kept the pressure on the Storm. Overall, Alliance scored twice in the frame. The Sox received hits from Lopez and Slade Harris to start the scoring. Camden Walker was next and his hit was misplayed by PH resulting in run #4. The scoring closed with a hit by Sylvester and a steal of home. Down 5, Panhandle got one back in the home half of the 4th. Walks by the Sox lead to 4 runs in their last at bat. Free passes to Grady Mulhern, Von Krejci, and Levi Escamilla loaded the bags. A wild pitch then put the Storm deficit at 5. Moseman then had an rbi groundout as the Peltz Co went ahead 7 to 1. Alliance last 2 runs came on an rbi walk by Barber and a wild pitch. Lopez recorded 2 strikeouts in the last attempt by the Storm in the bottom of the fifth.
