A pair of Alliance teams battled Wednesday when the Spuds took on the Aces. Using a five run second inning, it was the Spuds getting the win 12 to 10. The Aces rallied late with 6 in their final at bat to get close. Leading the Aces at the plate was Ben Smith who had 2 of their 6 knocks. Top slugger for the Spuds was Luke Clarke who ended with 3 hits including a homer. Jack Sautter pitched for the Spuds while taking the mound for the Aces were starter Hudson Brownlow along with relievers Vincent Freeze, Isaiah Dutton, Joseph Vela.
All Spuds early on. They scored twice thanks to a few walks and an rbi hit by Leo Hager. Five more Spud runs in the second make it 7 to 0. Getting hits in the second were Sautter, Tyce Johnson, Grady Mracek, and Clarke. Inning three had the Spud increase their margin by 1. Their advantage went to 11 to 0 after the fourth with 3 more tallies. Knocks off the bat from Clarke, Hager, and Ridge Toedtli put the Ace’s deficit at 11 heading to the fifth.
Four scores by the Aces in the top of the fifth closed the gap to seven. Smith and Julian Requejo recorded hits for the Aces. The score stayed at 11 to 4 until the bottom of the sixth when Clarke homered to put the Spud lead at 12 to 4. Toedtli also doubled. Back came the Aces in their last attempt.
Four Aces-Smith, Isaiah Gonzalez, Andre Acosta, and King Lopez- all had hits to end the game with the Spuds getting the win 12 to 10.
