Alliance hosted Security First on Monday in Prep baseball action. Due to the weather, the contest was called in the fifth inning with the Spartans getting the win 6 to 1. Prep Quinn Ferguson had a big nice at the plate with 2 knocks including a two run triple. Alliance also got 2 hits from AJ Garcia. Taking the rubber for the Peltz Co was starter Logan Freiberger along with relief hurlers Navi Singh and Garcia. Freiberger had 7 strikeouts in his three frames of work.
Both clubs went scoreless in inning one. Freiberger had 2 Ks in the top of the frame. Alliance got a hit from Garcia in the home half but he was left on the paths. Three more strikeouts by Freiberger in the second kept Gordon off the board. A hit by Ferguson in the bottom of the inning started a 2 run rally. Sonny Hernandez then reached after being hit by a pitch. Walks then to Eli Hamburger and Tee Johnson made it 1 to 0. The Peltz Co’s final score came when Carson Stroud was hit, driving in run 2. Heading to the third, the Spartans were up by 2.
In Freiberger’s last inning of work, the Prep recorded two more strikeouts that kept Security First off the scoreboard. Alliance extended their margin with 3 in the bottom of the third. The Spartans put two on the bases after a walk to Jace Jensen and Esai Trejo reaching on an error. Both runners crossed after a triple by Ferguson. A passed ball ended the scoring with the Preps ahead 5 to 0. Gordon got one back in the top of the fourth while a triple by Freiberger and an rbi hit by Garcia ended the contest.
