Seniors Bounce Wranglers

Saturday’s games at the Clair Conley tournament came to a close with a game featuring Alliance and Fort Morgan. Spartan pitcher Tony Escamilla led the Seniors past the Wranglers 7 to 2. Escamilla tossed all 5 frames and recorded a pair of strikeouts. At the plate, the Peltz Co had 6 hits for the contest.

Escamilla was strong from the start as the guests went 1-2-3 in the top of the first. Alliance then surged ahead in the home half with 2 runs. Espen Lanik had a lead off knock to began the scoring. Walks ensued from Kobe Strom and Nason Thompson. A passed ball and an error by Fort Morgan then made it to 2 to 0. Escamilla would single in the frame but was stranded. In the second, the Wranglers went scoreless while the Peltz Co pushed one across. Mike Johnson doubled and a steal of home made it 3 to 0 after 2 frames of play.

Solid pitching by both squads made inning 3 a quiet one for both clubs. Fort Morgan sliced their deficit in the fourth with 2 tallies. Up by just 1, the Spartans went on the offensive in the last of frame #4. Alliance scored 4 times to go ahead 7 to 2. Successful swings by Kegan Rodriguez and Braeden Clarke keyed the scoring. A wild pitch, a passed ball, and an error by the Bombers gave the Seniors the lead 6 to 2. Jaxson Esparza finished the scoring with an RBI knock. Fort Morgan failed to rally in the top of the fifth as the Spartans got the victory 7 to 2.
