Seniors Claim Clair Conley Championship with Salcido Leading the Way

Play came to a close on Sunday in the Clair Conley tournament with a game between Alliance and North Platte. Seven shutout innings by Spartan pitcher Lexton Salcido led Alliance past Post 163 five to zero.

The Seniors ended the four day tourney with a 4 and 1 record. Three tallies in the fifth by the Peltz Co keyed the victory. Salcido allowed just 4 hits while striking out 2. Alliance closed with 3 knocks.

Solid pitching by both squads dominated innings 1 and 2 as neither clubs would score. Salcido continued his strong outing with a 1-2-3 third. In the home half, the Peltz Co plated one. Braeden Clarke walked and scored on a North Platte error. Post 163 went scoreless again in inning #4 while the Seniors added to their advantage with another tally. Nason Thompson was hit by a pitch and scored after an RBI double by Carver Nemnich. With 4 frames in the book, Alliance led 2 to 0.

Inning 5 was a good one for the Spartans. NP went down silently and in the home half, the Seniors scored 3. Creighton Fritzler had a 2 bagger to start the scoring. Jaxson Esparza walked and an error by the guests made it 3 to 0. Thompson then connected as the Peltz Co lead went to 4. The frame came to a close with another misplay by NP and the Spartan’s fifth tally. In the sixth, both clubs were turned away. Salcido then ended the thriller by throwing a scoreless seventh. Final
