Big Effort by Bair Helps Preps Gain Split with Games vs Gordon

Spartan pitcher Dixon Bair had a complete game win in Alliance’s 5 to 1 victory over Gordon on Monday. Bair tossed all 5 frames and had 7 strikeouts. Alliance dropped the opener of the doubleheader before taking the night cap. The games were played in Gordon. Sonny Hernandez had 2 of the Peltz Co’s six knocks.

Inning one saw the Spartans take the lead. Alliance plated 2 thanks to a hit by AJ Garcia and an RBI groundout by Esai Trejo. In the home half, Bair kept Security First out of the scorebook with 2 Ks. Both squads failed to score in the second. Alliance extended its margin in third with 3 runs. Hits by Hernandez and Bair began the scoring. An RBI walk by Jace Jensen made it 3 to 0. An error by the Regulators then resulted in 2 more runs. Bair had a 1-2-3 third with one more strikeout. Heading to frame #4, the Peltz Co was up by 5.

Alliance received 2 hits in the top of the fourth but no runs. Spartans Braden Myers and Hernandez both recorded hits in the inning but failed to cross the plate. In the home half, an Alliance double play kept the hosts off the board. Jensen had a hit for the Peltz Co in their last attempt in the top of the fifth. He was stranded. Security First threatened in the bottom of the inning. Gordon used a couple of walks and a hit to get within 4 but a strikeout by Bair ended the affair.
