Cheyenne hosted the Capital City Championship over the weekend. Opening match for the Alliance Blue Sox was a game vs Valor. Using a combined no hitter, it was Alliance getting the win 16 to 3. Hurlers Slade Harris and Bodee Barber tossed 4 innings of no hit baseball. They struck out 6. Alliance had 13 hits for the contest. Leading the way with 2 each were:
Barber, Marshall Moseman, Eugenio Lopez, Harris, and Von Krejci. A seven run second frame outburst by the Sox led the way.
Valor hit first and was turned away. Alliance scored 5 in the opener. Knocks by Barber, Moseman, Lopez, and Harris gave the Sox a nice margin. Inning 2 had Valor score one. The Sox answered back with 7 tallies. Alliance got hits from Barber, Krejci, Moseman, Lopez, Harris, and Cameron Walker to increase their advantage. After 2, the Sox were up 12 to 1.
Both teams got into the scoring column in the third. Valor used an Alliance error and a hit batter to get players on the bases. Two wild pitches plated 2 runs. Barber did struck out three in the frame. Back came the Sox with a 4 spot in the home half. RBI knocks by Krejci, Kade Kelley, and Canton Devlin resulted in Alliance taking a 16 to 3 lead heading into the fourth.
