Top Dawgs Slow Down Sox

Sunday action for Alliance had the Blue Sox tangling with the Top Dawgs. Gering used strong pitching to defeat the Sox 11 to 3. The game was played in Cheyenne. A four run first inning by the Dawgs proved to be too much to handle. The Peltz Co had starter Canton Devlin and reliever Eugenio Lopez on the hill. Gering held the Sox to just 2 hits.

Alliance was up first and didn’t score. In the home half, Gering tallied 4 to take the lead. Inning #2 saw the Sox get on the scoreboard. Hits by Lopez and Slade Harris resulted in one run. Devlin had two strikeouts in the bottom of the frame as Gering failed to score. The Peltz Co was turned away in the third while the Dawgs plated 2. After three innings of action, the Blue Sox trailed 6 to 1.

A sac fly by Devlin in the top of the 4th pulled the Sox to within 4. Gering also put one in the books in the fourth to make it 7 to 2. Both squads scored in their last attempt. Harris scored Alliance’s third tally while Gering ended the contest with 4 scores in the last of the fifth.
