Gillette hosted a four day tournament which included the Alliance Seniors. Action began with a 2 to 1 win on Thursday against the Outlaws from Gallatin Valley. Pitcher Espen Lanik tossed all 7 innings, had six strikeouts, and held GV to just 3 hits. Kobe Strom had 2 of the Spartan’s six hits. The Peltz Co scored once in the third and once in the fourth in picking up W.
Gallatin went 1-2-3 in top of the opening while a hit by Spartan Nason Thompson in the home half was all the Seniors could muster. Lanik had a K in tossing a scoreless second. In the bottom of the frame, the Peltz Co got a triple from Strom but no runs. Inning #3 had the Outlaws go down silently. Alliance plated one in their third inning attempt. Kegan Rodriguez doubled and crossed after an error by Gallatin. After three frames of action, Alliance led 1 to 0.
Frame four was another scoreless one for the Outlaws. The Seniors added to their advantage with a tally in the bottom. Hits by Carver Nemnich and Jaxon Poss made it 2 to 0. Innings five and six were again quiet. Alliance received a sixth inning knock by Strom but he was left on the bases. Lanik put down GV in the sixth in order while recording another K. Things got a little interesting in the top of the seventh. Down 2, the Outlaws scored to close their deficit to 1. Lanik recovered to strike out the last 2 batters as the Peltz Co hung on for the 2 to 1 victory.
