Seniors Go 3 to 0 at Gillette Tourney with Win Over Greeley

Tournament action for the Alliance Seniors continued in Gillette on Saturday with a pair of contests. Their opponent in game one was Greeley. Using big scoring frames in the second and fourth innings, it was the Peltz Co downing Garretson’s club 12 to 3. Alliance tallied 5 in the second and added 6 more in the fourth in improving to 3 and 0 for the weekend. On offense, the Seniors received 2 hit efforts from Nason Thompson and Carver Nemnich to lead the way. Starter Tony Escamilla tossed 4 innings and had 4 strikeouts. Fletcher Moseman hurled the fifth.

Both squads went down 1-2-3 in the first. Alliance then found success in the top of the second. The Spartans loaded the sacks on a walk to Jaxson Esparza, a double by Nemnich, and a walk to Kobe Strom.

Braeden Clarke then doubled to made it 2 to 0. A steal of home and an error put the Peltz Co up 4. The scoring came a close with the Spartans getting an RBI double by Espen Lanik. Greeley scored once in the home half and the affair went to the third with the Seniors up by 4.

Alliance had an opportunity in the third with knocks by Esparza and Nemnich but the Spartans were turned away. Two Ks by Escamilla in the bottom of the frame kept the lead for the Peltz Co. Frame #4 was another good one for the Seniors. Six scores made it 11 to 1. A double by Lexton Salcido and a walk to Kegan Rodriguez gave Thompson an opportunity. Thompson came thru with a 2 run triple that made it 7 to 1. Later in the frame, a triple by Strom brought in three more tallies. Scoring came to an end with a passed ball which made the score 11 to 1. Greeley answered with a 2 spot in the bottom of the fourth with Escamilla notching 2 more strikeouts. Alliance got one back in the fifth. EJ Garcia was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI groundout by Lanik. Thompson also had a hit in the frame. In the last of the fifth, an Alliance double play ended the 12 to 3 ball game.
