Sunday action at the Chadron Wood Bat tournament had the Juniors taking on the hosts. Using a nice all around effort by Jayden Garcia, the Peltz Co cruised past PVC 9 to 0. Garcia along with Jackson Devlin led the Spartan offense with 2 hits each. On the mound, Garcia threw all 5 frames and had 7 strikeouts. Alliance closed with 8 hits and scored three runs in the first and second frames in getting the win.
Early momentum went to the guests. Alliance batted first and found success with 3 tallies. Israel Garcia singled to start the contest and crossed on an RBI swing by Casyn Rodriguez. An RBI groundout by Miguel Galvan made it 2 to 0. Tanner Salcido was next. He walked and came home on a passed ball. Up 3, Jayden Garcia had 2 Ks as Post 12 failed to score in the home half. Alliance added to its margin in the second with 3 more runs. Jayden Garcia doubled and scored on an error by PVC. A two run miscue by Chadron then made it 6 to 0. In the bottom of the frame, Salcido threw out a Chadron runner trying to steal from his catcher’s spot. The hosts went scoreless and the contest went to the third with the Peltz Co up 6 to 0.
Four Alliance knocks in the top of inning #3 resulted in 2 more scores. The Juniors got good swings from Jace Jensen, Logan Freiberger, Jayden Garcia, and Devlin to increase their advantage. An rbi groundout by Carson Stull and a sac fly by Israel Garcia made it 8 to 0. Jayden Garcia had three strikeouts in the last of the third to preserve his shutout. No runs were tallied in the 4th. In the Spartan’s last at bat, Alliance scored one run as Jayden Garcia reached on an error and scored on a passed ball. Devlin added a hit in the frame but didn’t cross.
