Wood Bat Tournament Comes to an End for Juniors with Loss to Tigers

Alliance concluded Chadron’s Wood Bat tourney with a contest against Torrington. Bats of the Juniors were silenced in a 9 to 1 defeat by the Tigers. Alliance finishes the tournament with a 3 and 1 mark. Overall, the Peltz Co has a 28 and 14 record for the season. Torrington scored three times in the first, second, and fifth frames in getting the victory. The Spartans had 3 hits for the affair. Israel Garcia started for Alliance and was relieved by Carson Stull and Jackson Devlin.

Inning one had the Peltz Co go 1-2-3 while Torrington seized the lead in the home half. The Tigers plated 3 to take the early lead. Alliance did turn a double play in the frame with Devlin in right field throwing out a runner at the plate trying to score. In the second, bats for the Juniors stayed cold and Alliance failed to score. Three more Tiger tallies in the bottom of the second put the Spartans deficit at 6 to 0 with play moving into the third.

Both clubs went scoreless in frame #3. The Peltz Co got a double from Miguel Galvan but no scores. Down 6 in the top of the fourth, the Juniors scored once. Casyn Rodriguez singled and crossed on a passed ball. Torrington was turned away in the bottom of the inning. Stull recorded a strikeout in the scoreless inning. In Alliance’s last attempt, the Spartans got a hit by Teagan O’Gorman but he was left on the bags. The contest then closed in the last of the fifth with Torrington getting 3 more tallies.
