Sister Regina Boyle Obituary

Sister Regina Boyle, 90, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at Marian Residence in Alliance, NE.

She was born December 29, 1929 in O’Neill, NE to Charles and Alice (Barrett) Boyle and was named Alice Catherine.

She entered the Sisters of St. Frances of Penance and Christian Charity at Marycrest Convent in Denver, CO on September 8, 1953 and took her temporary vows on August 15, 1956 and professed her Perpetual Vows on August 15, 1959 and took the name of Sr. Mary Regina.  She received her bachelor’s degree from Regis University in 1952.

Sister Regina followed the Lord’s call to the Sisters of St. Francis in 1953.  Three years of novitiate training introduced her to the ways of Religious Life. On August 15, 1956 she professed her vows and took the name of Sister Mary Regina.

She came to teach at St. Agnes Academy in 1956 and a year at St. Francis Mission, SD before returning to Denver in 1961.  She would further her education and continue teaching at Marycrest High School in Denver.  Sr. Regina would continue in her ministry in a variety of ways in teaching art and local ministering until 2014.  She then retired and became a resident of Marian Residence in Alliance.

She is survived by her sisters, Rita (Ken) Grosse, Mary Ellen Klinetrobe, Theresa Parks, Frances (Lyle) Gillogly, Helen (Dennis) Cunningham and Bridget (Joe) Ramold, along with numerous nieces and nephews and her Franciscan family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Rosalie Crawford, Delores Schneider, Charlene Gaughenbaugh and an infant sister, Cecilia.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private Mass of Christian Burial will be at Marian Chapel in Alliance on Friday, November 13, 2020 with Father Tim Stoner officiating.  Burial will be in the O’Neill Cemetery, O’Neill,  Nebraska.

Memorials are suggested for the St Agnes Foundation, 1104 Cheyenne Avenue, Alliance, NE  69301 for the adopt a student  fund in care of Edna Broad.
