The future stars of basketball were out on Sunday as the 27th annual St Agnes elementary tournament was held at the Holy Rosary Parish Center. Twenty nine athletes participated in the event. It marked the beginning of Catholic Schools week by the Academy.
The Brown Porcupines went undefeated and won the girls division. They finished the day with a 5 and 0 record and their team consisted of Kale Hulquist Penn Vergil Eleanor Shelmadine and Quinn Robertson. Taking second were the White Tigers. Playing for the Tigers were Nyah Montes. Peyton Lauder and Corrine McClary. The Blue Sloths also took part and their team consisted of Raya Beck. Aubrey Dudden and Raygen Kozal. Rounding out the field were the Gray Starfishes. Team members: Nala Red Nest. Willow Hampton Sidda Wilcox and Delaney Jelinek
First place finishers in the boy’s side were the Gray Bulldogs. Playing for the Dogs were Quinton Schroth. Oryan Kozal Ashton Weingart and William Harris. Taking second were the Green Dukes with members Emerson Trumble. Sawyer Benigno Tanner Gillespie and Chief Cody. Other teams were the Black Hawks and the Red Cardinals. Playing for the Hawks were Luka Beck. James Benzel Tee Johnson and Tyce Johnson. Team members for the Cardinals were Tatum Delvin. Rhett Stabnow. Landon Schroth and Liam Pena
“We had a really nice turnout for the games,” said Mark Glesinger. “The boys games were very close with a few overtime contests. On the girls side the Porcupines were big winners, scoring in double figures in almost on their games. Many thanks to all the helpers.”
