Three deaths related to COVID-19 were announced during a briefing by COVID-19 Unified Command as officials urge people to receive vaccinations and take steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
A Dawes County man in his 90s, a Scotts Bluff County man in his 40s and a Sheridan County woman in her 70s were confirmed as the latest COVID-related deaths in the Panhandle, bringing the total number of people who have died in the region due to COVID-19 to 194 since the outbreak began.
“We share our sympathy in the loss of our fellow Panhandle residents,” said Panhandle Public Health District Director Kim Engel.
A total of 19 new cases of COVID were announced in the Panhandle in the last week: one in Box Butte County; three in Cheyenne County; three in Dawes County; one in Deuel County; one in Kimball County; one in Morrill County; four in Scotts Bluff County; five in Sheridan County. A total of 26,011 Panhandle residents have been vaccinated as of Monday.
Officials encourage Panhandle residents 18 and older to schedule a time to receive the vaccine by registering at vaccinate.ne.gov. After registering there, Box Butte County and Grant County residents may then schedule a time to receive the vaccine by signing up at https://tinyurl.com/25mwaapu or at safeway.com.
Teens ages 16 and 17 may register at vaccinate.ne.gov. People who are fully vaccinated will not be required to quarantine due to close contact. People who have lost their COVID vaccine card may request a new one at https://tinyurl.com/2zh7uhhu.
