A drug bust led to one man being arrested for distributing drugs throughout the community, leading law enforcement to seize Fentanyl pills and methamphetamine.
On July 1, Alliance Police Department officers, in conjunction with the Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office, the Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Game and Parks, executed a search warrant on a hotel room at the Quality Inn in Alliance following an investigation into drug distribution activity throughout the city.
While executing the warrant, one man was taken into custody, and officers seized methamphetamine, 75 Fentanyl pills, more than $2,000 in cash, a firearm and a vehicle in the process.
In a press release, APD Chief Philip Lukens emphasized drugs will not be tolerated in Alliance, noting their deadly nature.
“The community has identified drugs as the number one concern in our recent community survey. We are listening and we are doing something about it. We will not tolerate this behavior in our beautiful community. Fentanyl is very addictive and deadly,” said Lukens.
Lukens expressed gratitude for the efforts of the community to prevent illegal activity.
“I want to thank our community members, businesses and churches for stepping up and helping us prevent crime and disorder,” Lukens said. “We are seeing progress. I especially want to thank the Quality Inn for accommodating us to ensure the safety of all who were in the facility was paramount.”
