Mark William Gresens obituary

Mark William Gresens of Alliance, NE, age 60, went home to be with the Lord Friday October 22, 2021 in the presence of his wife Mary and nephew Archie Shipp at CHI Health Nebraska Heart in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mark was born in Rochester, New York February 13, 1961, to his parents Roy and Pauline (Curry) Gresens. Mark was the youngest of five siblings. In 1966, the Gresens family moved to Hemingford, Nebraska. Mark went to school at Hemingford schools and graduated in 1979. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and was an Aircraft Electrician. He served for ten years in Texas, Almandorf, Alaska, and South Korea leaving with the rank of Sgt. Mark had a life-long love of Alaska and dreamed of returning there someday where he could enjoy the wildlife, especially eagles and wolves.

Mark felt the calling to be a pastor and attended Mid-America Bible College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for two years. Mark returned to Alliance and worked at Hardees where he met and worked with his wife, Mary Christine Requejo. Mark and Mary married August 21, 1999, at the Evangelical Free Church in Alliance.

Mark and Mary returned to Mid-America Bible College in 2000 to continue their studies for another year. They returned to Scottsbluff where Mark worked at the Veterans Home as a cook. They moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, to help Mark’s sister, Linda, following the death of her husband. In 2010, Mark and Mary returned to Alliance and lived in the Panhandle ever since.

Mark is survived by his wife Mary (Requejo) Gresens, his sister Victoria Gresens, and brother Rodger and sister-in-law Carmen Gresens. Mark is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Archie Shipp and his wife Tammy, and his kitties Cheeto and PeeWee.

Mark is predeceased by his parents, Roy and Pauline (Curry) Gresens r sister Linda (Gresens) Hammond, sister Karen Gresens, and mother-in law Ramona Requejo.

Mark’s Celebration of Life service will be November 5th at 1:00 pm at the Evangelical Free Church, 611 Cody Ave, Alliance. Burial with military honors and at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery east of Alliance. There will be a reception at the Evangelical Free Church afterward.

Memorial funds will be used for funeral expenses.
