Carol Janice Broz Obituary

Carol Janice Broz was born April 4, 1929, at Hyannis, Nebraska, to Clifford M and Eva N. (Walker) Younkin. As a youngster she grew up on a ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska, graduating From Alliance High School. Carol continued her education at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Carol was also a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority while in college and remained associated with Sorority throughout the years.

Carol married John S. Broz on July 27, 1951, in Omaha, Nebraska. Carol taught school at Boy’s Town in Omaha for several years before the couple followed John’s medical career to Twin Falls, Idaho, and Denver, Colorado. Carol and John also resided in Evergreen, Colorado, and Perry Peak, Colorado, before retiring in Imperial, Nebraska.

Carol was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and a past president of the Peruvian Paso Horse Association, and she was an avid horsewoman. While living in Twin Falls, Carol was active in the Garden Club and served on the Twin Falls Memorial Hospital Welcoming Committee. She was  a great supporter of the Humane Society and Animal Recuse programs

and an animal lover of horses, dogs, cats, and even one burro.

Carol passed away Sunday morning, November 28, 2021, at the Chase County Community Hospital, Imperial. Carol was 92 years of age.

Survivors Include:

Son: Joseph Broz Ph.D. and wife, Jeanette, of Sleepy Hollow, NY

Daughter: Jon Marie Broz of Denver, CO.

4 Grandchildren: Rhoads Reynolds Cannon, Nicholas Joseph Broz, Walker Stewart   Cannon, and Julianna Marie Broz.

Sister: June Steggs of Imperial, NE

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, and  her brother Walker Younkin.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Thursday afternoon, December 2, 2021, 2:00 P.M. (MT) at St Patrick Catholic Church of Imperial, with celebrant, Father Lothar Gilde officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.

No visitation, Carol chose cremation.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Carol’s memory has been suggested to the McCook Humane Society, 100, South Street, P.O. Box 13, McCook, NE 69001
