Genie was born on February 24, 1939 in Mullen, Nebraska, to Burt and Doris Brown (Stevenson).
Genie excelled in school graduating as valedictorian of her class at Alliance High School in 1957. She attended Chadron State College in the School of Business for one year. Rather than continuing school, Genie jumped into the workplace, accepting a position as secretary at Alliance Community TV, Inc. in 1958. This company was acquired by Tele-Communications Inc (TCI) in 1965. After TCI built their corporate headquarters in Denver, Genie moved there in direct support of their executive leadership. She continued working for TCI until her retirement in 1998.
She was very connected with the Eastern Star Organization, becoming the Worthy Matron of the Alliance chapter in 1961.
Genie married Bill Watson on June 15, 1958. After her divorce from Bill in 1968, she met and married Don Wall on August 30, 1970. Don had three adult children, Claudia, Kay, and Steve. These children produced many grand-children, and even great-grand-children, much to her delight.
After retirement, Genie and Don traveled for several years before moving to Deming, New Mexico. During this time, Genie became a member of the Deming Methodist Church, participating in Bible studies and the bell choir.
Don passed away in 2009, and after a major surgery in 2013, Genie moved to Chandler, Arizona to be closer to her sister, Ellie Hayden, and her nieces and nephews. She immediately became active in the Sun Lakes Methodist Church, attending many events, Bible studies, and small groups. She was also heavily involved with the Lion’s Club, and continued in her strong support of the Republican Party.
Due to declining health and memory issues, she was admitted to a facility in November 2021, and after a brief illness, passed on January 15, 2022.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and husband.
