AHS Boys Basketball Looking to Compete This Season

Head Boys Basketball Coach at Alliance High School Jordan Mills is looking for strong play from the athletes this season, and seeing improvement every day.

“We have a really good group of guys. Looking to compete on both ends of the floor every single night,” said Mills. “Looking to make it a little bit further, maybe get to a district final this year. Obviously it’s very very early so I don’t like pushing that out. I think day-by-day just get better, constant daily improvement. Tend to see where that takes us and I’ll be happy with the outcome.”

He hopes to win more games this season than last year. He thinks the athletes display strong shooting capabilities, which is a strength to rely on this season.

“As a group we shoot the basketball pretty well, at a pretty high level,” Mills said. “I think that is definitely a strength. I think athleticism is definitely improved from last year. A couple weaknesses, I tend to talk about it already, but offensive and defensive rebounding and just get stops defensively. I think that’s going to be a big part of our success when we do have success.

“I think some of the things we need to work on as far as game play goes is on the defensive end we have to get more stops this year and rebound the basketball is going to be super key for us. I think offensively we have a lot guys that supported in a variety of ways. That’s going to be important for us as well.”

He hopes fans will pack the stands on game night.

“We have a great group of kids,” said Mills. “I think showing up. I think it’s going to be a fun round of basketball to watch. I think when you come to a game it’s going to be exciting, fun to watch. Like I said, great group of guys so you’re supporting a good group.”
