Red hot scoring in the bottom of the opening frame aided the Alliance Prep club in their contest vs Ogallala. Tallying 7 times in the first, the Spartans defeated the Advisors 13 to 3 in action Wednesday night. The affair was played in Alliance. Leading the offense was Dixon Bair who ended the game with 2 of the Spartans seven knocks. The Peltz Co had 2 players who took the hill. Starter Esai Trejo who tossed three plus innings and Eli Hamburger who closed the contest.
Two strikeouts by Trejo gave the Preps a nice start in the top of the first. The Spartans kept the momentum in the home half with 7 runs. Roy Torres walked and moved into scoring position after Bair’s hit was misplayed by the guests. A passed ball and another error by OG made it 2 to 0. Logan Freiberger then doubled and scored on an RBI groundout by Quinn Ferguson. The scoring continued with an RBI knock by Sonny Hernandez. Two more miscues by the Advisors plus a hit by Bair concluded the inning. The Peltz Co led 7 to 0 after one inning.
Trejo had another scoreless effort in the second, getting 2 more Ks. The Preps added to their advantage with 5 more tallies in the bottom of the second. A pair of walks, a hit batter, and three passed balls made it 10 to 0. Hamburger added an RBI grounder for the Spartan’s next score. The inning came to an end with a triple by Torres and another single by Bair. Heading to the third, the Prep squad was up 12 to 0.
A double play by the Spartans in the third kept the visitors off the board. Hits in the home half by Silas Lilley-Stone and AJ Garcia gave the Peltz Co a 13 to 0 cushion. The ball game ended with three scores by Ogallala and the Spartans getting the 13 to 3 victory.
