Bulldogs Sneak Past Spuds; Escamilla Homers for Alliance

A six run deficit was too much to overcome for the Spuds in their Friday matchup with Gillette. Alliance fell to the Bulldogs 9 to 6 after trailing 7 to 1. The highlight of the contest came in the fourth with a 2 run home run by Alliance’s Nikki Escamilla. Pitching for the Spuds was starter Jack Freiberger who went 2. Also tossing were Landon Hickman, Jensen Freiberger, and Luke Clarke. Alliance had six hits for the battle.

Action began with Freiberger putting down the Dogs in order in the opener. In the home half, the Spuds scored once thanks to a walk to Clarke and a steal of home. Gillette came back with 3 tallies in the top of the second while Alliance failed to score. Inning #3 had the Bulldogs extend their advantage with 4 more scores. Again the bats for the Spuds were quiet and the contest went to the fourth with the Spuds down 7 to 1.

Gillette would not score in the top of the fourth while Alliance plated 5. Hits by Leo Hager, Jon Luke, and Hickman made it 7 to 2. A wild pitch then made it a 4 run ball game and sent up Escamilla whose HR made it 7 to 5. Alliance’s final tally came on an rbi knock by Jack Sautter. In the fifth, the Dogs pushed 2 across while the Spuds failed to rally. Final Gillette 9. Alliance 6
