Public Transit Essential and by Appointment Rides
September 2nd– 5th, Public Transit will be transporting only those with essential rides and rides scheduled 24 hours in advance. Normal services will be resumed September 8th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Public Transit Temporary Hours
\Beginning September 1st, 2025, Public Transit’s hours will temporarily change until new drivers are hired. The temporary hours will be:
Monday-Friday 6:30am-12:00 PM
1:00pm-4:30 PM
Last request must be made by 4:15 PM.
We will still provide transportation to and from the airport by prescheduled rides only.
Alliance Public Library “Uber Reads”
Come check out the newest Alliance Public Library display competition. APL’s Uber Reads is a fun way to spice up your reading life. Each bagged book is stapled shut keeping the book inside a mystery. Refer to the checkout receipt for clues about the book and other fun facts regarding your “order”. Check out a book from the display for a chance to win a $50 Gift Certificate to Wonderful Kitchen. Each “foodie” bagged book includes a recipe card featuring a dish from the book for you to keep and enjoy. Return your receipt upon your return visit with your name and phone number on the back for a chance to win. Contest ends September 30. One checkout from the to-go section per visit. The contest is open to ages 18 and older.
Story Time and LEGO Club Schedule at Alliance Public Library
Story Time themes at Alliance Public Library include My Family on September 4, School Days on September 9 and 11, Autumn Adventures on September 16 and 18, Berenstain Bears on September 23 and 25, then Friendship on September 30 and October 2. Story Time for ages 3-6 meets in the Children’s Room of the library on Tuesdays at 10 am and Thursdays at 1 pm with several stories, birthdays, music, puppets and craft. Please preregister at the circulation desk.
LEGO Club for grades K-2 will meet on Tuesdays, September 2 and 16 from 4-5 pm. LEGO Club for grades 3-5 will meet on Tuesday, September 9 from 4-5 pm. These groups meet in the APL Community Room for preregistered participants. All LEGO supplies are provided and remain at the library for future use.
Box Butte County RSVP Care Packages
Box Butte County RSVP will be collecting items to deliver care packages for the City’s First Responders. Some items needed include protein-rich snacks, gum, sunscreen, ChapStick, hand sanitizer, candy, tissues, and drink packets with electrolytes and/or caffeine.
Donations can be dropped off at the Senior Center at any time, or call (308) 762-1293 to schedule a time on September 9th and 10th for a volunteer to pick the items up. RSVP will be collecting donations through September 10th. Care packages will be put together and distributed on September 11th.
