Community organizations and individuals can apply for grants from the St. John’s ELCA Mission Endowment Fund in Alliance. Applications are due Monday, May 4.
Annual awards are made from the church’s Mission Endowment Fund to support community and religious organizations, social agencies, and private educational scholarships, said Mary Crawford, Endowment Board recording secretary.
Endowment Fund distributions in 2025 benefited a scholarship to St. John’s Preschool, the Lakota Lutheran Center & Chapel in Scottsbluff, St. John’s Head Start Backpack Program, and the Carnegie Arts Center in Alliance.
Other recipients were Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Alliance Ministerial Association, St. John’s social and ecumenical ministries, and the St. John’s 75th Anniversary Committee for the public chuck wagon barbecue and anniversary events in the summer of 2025.
Mission distributions totaled $10,845 in 2025. The Mission Endowment Fund is invested at local financial institutions with interest earnings providing annual gifts and scholarships.
